Fluorite, also known as fluorspar and fluorite, is a mineral whose main component is calcium fluoride (CaF2) and contains many impurities. The calcium is often replaced by rare earth elements such as yttrium and cerium. In addition, it also contains small amounts of Fe2O3, SiO2 and trace amounts of Cl, O3 and He. Fluorite in nature often shows bright colors and has lower hardness than a knife.
The fluorite ore flotation process can be applied to difficult-to-separate fluorspar ores with complex ore properties such as high mud content in raw ores, symbiosis of impurity minerals and fluorspar, and fine particle size of useful minerals.
Generally, fluorite and barite are mixed and flotated, and then separated. During the mixed flotation, oleic acid is used as a collector to obtain a mixed concentrate. The mixed concentrate can be separated by forward flotation or reverse flotation to obtain a fluorite concentrate.
Fatty acids are used to capture fluorspar, and water glass is used to suppress quartz. The amount of water glass should be controlled appropriately. A small amount will activate fluorite, but it will not inhibit quartz enough. Excessive amount will inhibit fluorite. Sometimes in order to enhance the inhibitory effect of water glass on quartz, certain polyvalent metal ions are added, which inhibit not only quartz but also calcite.
The fluorite gravity separation method is mainly used to separate particle ores with higher grade ores and particle sizes of 6-20mm. Fluorite gravity separation process: the raw ore is crushed to below 25-30mm, and then selected through screening and classification. The fine-grained grade is sorted by a jig or a shaker, and the coarse-grained grade is sorted by heavy media. Ferrosilicon is commonly used as weight. quality (high-density solid particles prepared for resuspension). When the selected fluorspar ore contains heavy metal minerals such as barite and galena, fluorspar will be recycled as the first heavy material.
