Mozambique is one of the major zircon-titanium resource countries in the world. The deposit types are mainly laterite-type zircon-titanium sand ore and coastal-type zircon-titanium sand ore. Minerals are mostly scattered in the ore in the form of single mineral particles, with good natural dissociation, and are easy-to-sort ores. This project is an expansion project with a construction scale of 10,000 tons of raw ore per day.

The main production processes are:

1. Roughing operation - separation of zircon-titanium ore and silica sand

The materials in the raw ore yard are fed to the belt conveyor by a belt feeder and passed through a linear vibrating screen for impurity removal and waste disposal; the slurry pump under the screen is sent to the desludging cyclone group for desludging, and the sand is self-flowing to the spiral chute sorting system; the separation of zircon-titanium ore and silica sand adopts the "one roughing (selection) one sweeping (selection) one fine (selection)" process.

2. Magnetic separation - separation of ilmenite and zircon sand

The heavy sand product obtained from the roughing operation is transported to a weak magnetic field magnetic separator. After the process of "one roughing (selection) and one sweeping (selection)", a low-titanium and high-iron titanomagnetite product can be obtained.

The weak magnetic separation tailings flow by gravity to a high-gradient strong magnetic separator for strong magnetic separation to obtain ilmenite products.

 3. Zircon selection system - purification and selection of zircon sand

The strong magnetic separation tailings are transported to the zircon selection system by a slurry pump. The process is "screw one roughing, and one sweeping + shaking table selection". Zircon sand products can be obtained after purification and selection.

 4. Concentrate and tailings processing system

 Dehydration of titanomagnetite concentrate and ilmenite concentrate: each flows by gravity to a spiral classifier for dehydration, and then is transported to the yard for storage by a belt conveyor, waiting for truck transportation and sales.

Zircon concentrate dehydration: The shaker concentrate flows to the dehydration bucket for dehydration, and after a certain period of concentration and sedimentation, it is bagged and stored.

Final tailings dehydration: It flows to the submerged spiral classifier for dehydration, and the tailings are transported to the yard for storage by the belt conveyor. The overflow of the spiral classifier is transported to the tailings pond by the slurry pump for sedimentation and storage; the return water of the tailings pond is clarified and treated, and then transported to the return water supply system of the plant by the slurry pump.
